TechTuesday #6 “Video/Audio Quality” does it really matter? As we talk about in the show, the quality of your video and your audio can vary in huge measure depending upon your audience and your content. You can do it RAW on the fly, smooth in controlled environment or even super edited for professional results. One of the RAW type of guys that always just does it in one take is Gary Vaynerchuk or WineLibraryTV.com. He shows that as long as you are good at what you do and have passion for whatever you are speaking about IT DOESN’T REALLY MATTER!
But some of us, like to have little more polish, and this week’s TechTuesday show will give you the how’s and why’s…
Today I had some insulation put in my attic in my home. The company that came and did the work is Kelly’s Insulation and they offer a great service: add more insulation to your attic and file all the paperwork to get the rebates from the local power and gas company. Thus their service really became FREE to me, but they will be paid $922 from the utility companies and I am not out anything.
Making a SALE is great right?
Of course it is, turning that sale into MANY SALES is what makes a small business money. So I asked the nice guy, Kenny, if they had a Facebook Fan Page for their business. He said he didn’t even know. I went and looked them up and sure enough they did, I became a Fan and now I am bragging them up!!! Can people who use your business Brag You Up?
Based on the response that I have received on my Facebook post about creating my “Video Email Follow-up System” that I will be using for QuestioningSuccess (over 40 people said that they wanted to get a copy of the training) I am decided to do it as this week’s TechTuesday LIVE!

Here are the show notes:
The 10 Steps-
Record your video using a camera, webcam, FlipVideo or camcorder. (View quality samples here.)
Edit your video (or use it raw, which could be better in this case.)
Convert your video to .FLV (using a program like ffmpegX for Mac or a PC equivalent.)
Upload video to your hosting account. (I recommend using HostMonster!)
I suspect that the most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention. And especially if it’s given from the heart. When people are talking, there’s no need to do anything but receive them. Just take them in. Listen to what they’re saying. Care about it. Most times caring about it is even more important than understanding it. Most of us don’t value ourselves or our love enough to know this. It has taken me a long time to believe in the power of simply saying, “I’m so sorry,” when someone is in pain. And meaning it.
One of my patients told me that when she tried to tell her story people often interrupted to tell her that they once had something just like that happen to them. Subtly her pain became a story about themselves. Eventually she stopped talking to most people. It was just too lonely. We connect through listening. When we interrupt what someone is saying to let them know that we understand, we move the focus of attention to ourselves. When we listen, they know we care. Many people with cancer can talk about the relief of having someone just listen.
I have even learned to respond to someone crying by just listening. In the old days I used to reach for the tissues, until I realized that passing a person a tissue may be just another way to shut them down, to take them out of their experience of sadness and grief. Now I just listen. When they have cried all they need to cry, they find me there with them.
This simple thing has not been that easy to learn. It certainly went against everything I had been taught since I was very young. I thought people listened only because they were too timid to speak or did not know the answer. A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well intentioned words.

In this new year, 2010, choose to make a daily effort to LISTEN more than you speak.
