Google Maps for Real Estate Professionals

Do you want to put detailed maps for your listings online?  One way would be the hard way, so we wont go there, the easy way is to do it using Google Maps for Real Estate Professionals.

If you are not familiar with Google’s system for maps and real estate and you are in the Real Estate Industry the time is NOW to learn and use this for every property owner you serve.  First and foremost make certain that your real estate company is listed in the Google Local directory by making (or claiming) your listing by visiting Google Local Business Center and adding your logos, photos and even VIDEOS about you and your company!  (This is key because your company will now show up on mobile devices that use Google Maps like the iPhone and Android phones.)

Next, you are going to get your individual listing information up to Google in the form of a FEED.  You can put that information in a “tab-delimited” format of in spreadsheet saved as .XLS and include as much information as you want to include.  This information is going to be uploaded to Google Base and they have detailed instructions on what attributes you can use and then how to submit that feed.  View all of that information by visiting Google Base Help – Housing – US.

Once your listing feed is submitted to Google, you can check your listings by visiting http://maps.google.com/realestate

Once your listing is up on Google Real Estate you can easily add maps to your specific listing by going to Google Real Estate and locating your listing.  Make the size of the window (as far as how zoomed in you want to be) and click on the “Send” option on the top right of the map window.  It will give you an address that is ridiculously LONG, like this.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=&mrt=realestate&sll=40.922949,-111.869402&sspn=0.011625,0.022209&attrid=2c9c97583d09b00d_&ie=UTF8&split=1&rq=
1&ev=zi&radius=0.58&hq=&hnear=&ll=40.922949,-111.869402&spn=0.011625,0.022209&t=h&z=16&iwloc=A&cid=13334209371405167213

..copy it and use a URL shortner service like bit.ly that will track your click throughs and get something that looks like this… http://bit.ly/c1OjDW

Then you put that link in your video descriptions on YouTube and Facebook… now you will know how many people were interested enough to click on a map of your listing and that is a great feedback tool!!!
